Andres Fiz is a Chicago-based projection designer with a background in theatre who is passionate about designing for new works, TYA, dance, opera, installations, and music videos. With experience in art history and VFX, their work often focuses on combining traditional art and filmmaking techniques to bring unique and textured work to the theatre. They received a BFA in Projection Design from The Theatre School at DePaul University.
They have designed for a variety of Chicago institutions including Rivendell Theatre, the Opera Festival of Chicago, Northwestern University, Oakton College, The Athenaeum, the DePaul Opera Theatre, and nationally at Theatre Under the Stars (Houston, TX), and Constellation Stage and Screen (Bloomington, IN).
In addition to projection design, Andres’ creative works include audiovisual installations, performance art and puppets that have been presented at the Annoyance Theatre, Comfort Station's Comfort Music series, and Rough House Theatre’s Nasty, Brutish and Short Puppet Cabaret. Andres also frequently runs live visuals for DJ and music sets, and has performed in the Bread and Puppet circus in Vermont the past two years.
